Gary Robbins, Principal

Gary RobbinsMr. Robbins is an urban planner and social scientist with over 25 years’ experience in designing and implementing public participation programs to help governmental agencies and private organizations develop implementable solutions to important problems. He is a co-founders of Urban Alternatives. During his 24-year tenure as an owner of the firm, Gary has been a principal consultant on over 400 public involvement programs, most of these for highly controversial and contentious projects. He holds a joint Masters degree in Urban Planning and Social Science from San Francisco State University and is a member of the International Association for Public Participation. Jim Marks, Senior Project Coordinator

James MarksDr. Marks has over 25 years’ international experience in community development and public participation, specializing in designing, implementing and managing public involvement programs for large-scale, technically complex and politically sensitive projects. He has extensive experience in developing public involvement programs in the context of environmental studies (EIRs and EISs). Jim has been a Senior Project Coordinator with Urban Alternatives since 1989. He holds Masters and Doctorate degrees in Social Science from the University of California at Irvine and is a member of the International Association for Public Participation. Extended Biography

 


Steve Reiner, Senior Associate

Steven ReinerMr. Reiner is a planner and economic/ engineering consultant specializing in the public acceptance aspects of community development projects. His 25 years of experience reflects a command of both the technical and consensus- building aspects of planning. Mr. Reiner has been a Senior Associate at Urban Alternatives since 1996. He holds a Master degree in Public Administration from the University of California at Los Angeles and has completed the course requirements for the Ph.D. Program in Urban Studies and Planning at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
